Unveiling Laco and Circula ProLab: Celebrating 170 Years of German Watchmaking Excellence
Pforzheim, Germany, often referred to as the ‘Golden City’, is renowned for its deep-rooted legacy in jewellery and watchmaking. Two of its local brands, Laco and Circula, share an impressive 170 years of history in this craftsman city. As they each celebrate respective anniversaries, the two have decided to commemorate it uniquely, with the release of a collaborative pair of watches called ProLab.
ProLab originates from elements of both brands’ collections - ‘Pro’ from Circula’s PROTrail and Laco’s PRO line, and ‘Lab’ symbolising a collaborative space. While initially, the idea was to release a single piece, the brands chose to introduce two watches, adequately representing the identity of each brand and a mutual vision of timepiece excellence.
Circula’s offering also comes in a 40mm stainless steel case but with additional scratch resistance and antimagnetic protection. Despite its slightly thicker build, it offers a water resistance of 150 metres. Similar to Laco’s piece, the solid case back features unique engraving. The watches are powered by automatic movements, with Laco’s piece taking advantage of a Sellita SW200-1 Elaboré.
The ProLab collection is a compelling blend of modern technology, timeless aesthetics, and a deep-rooted respect for the heritage of watchmaking in Pforzheim. This collaboration is a testament to the brands’ shared vision and their commitment towards preserving the tradition and craft of their beloved Golden City.
