Breitling Blazes into the High-Speed World of Formula 1 with Aston Martin Team Sponsorship

Breitling, the iconic Swiss aviation watch brand, steps into the world of Formula 1 with a groundbreaking deal with Aston Martin.

Breitling, the venerable Swiss watchmaker famed for its strong ties to aviation, has set its sights high by entering the high-octane world of Formula 1. The brand has announced a multi-year deal with Aston Martin and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team, thrusting Breitling into the race of F1 watch sponsors.

While the Grenchen, Switzerland-based manufacturer has a stronghold among the ten biggest Swiss watch brands, its presence in the realm of F1 and automotive sports have been muted until now. Competition in this arena includes heavyweights like TAG Heuer, Rolex, and Richard Mille.

According to this landmark agreement, Breitling’s logo will grace the Aston Martin Aramco car and team apparel starting from the 2026 season. Its debut in the world of high-speed racing will commence at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

The collaboration isn’t a one-off stunt, either. Breitling anticipates the relationship extending for a minimum of three to five years. This follows their high-profile deal established earlier with the National Football League as their official timepiece sponsor.

Breitling’s union with Aston Martin indicates more than just brand visibility. It aims to engage a new customer base and invokes the brand’s age-old links to motorsport and F1. The watchmaker asserts that its ties to racing goes back to the era when Aston Martin made its first foray into Formula 1. Legendary drivers like Graham Hill and Jim Clark reportedly sported Breitling Navitimers, adapting the cockpit instruments of the watches to the racing track. Further cementing this connection is a memorable scene from the 1965 James Bond movie ‘Thunderball,’ where Bond himself wore a Breitling Top Time Chronograph while driving the iconic Aston Martin DB5.
