Audemars Piguet Expands the Royal Oak 'Jumbo' Collection with the Innovative Titanium and BMG Model
Prestigious watchmaker Audemars Piguet is expanding the Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ family with a novel material combination, bringing in an intriguing blend of titanium and Bulk Metallic Glass (BMG). The model, identified as 16204XT, is part of the iconic Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ Extra-Thin Openworked series launched for the RO’s 50th anniversary that redefined the brand’s approach to skeletonization.
The latest iteration preserves the beloved 39mm Jumbo silhouette, but it replaces the conventional metals with titanium and BMG, a palladium-based amorphous alloy renowned for its mirror-like polish and high scratch-resistance. The choice paints a striking contrast against the satin-brushed titanium mid-case as the alloy garnishes the bezel and caseback frame. Additionally, consistency in the design is maintained by crafting the screw-locked crown out of titanium.
The watch’s movement remains the same as the Calibre 7124 continues to hold its status of one of the thinnest self-winding openworked movements available. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of up to 57 hours.
The integrated bracelet aligns with the material philosophy of the watch, pairing titanium links with robust BMG studs. The new Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked 16204XT is not produced as a limited-edition variant, yet, the production is anticipated to be closely monitored. The watch continues the brand’s boutique-driven allocation tradition with an undisclosed price.
