Revolutionary Indie Watch: Qian GuoBiao Unveils an Exceptional Split-Seconds Chronograph

Published: 26 Jan 2026
Chinese independent watchmaker, Qian GuoBiao, adds a remarkable split-seconds chronograph to his portfolio, continuing his exploration of indie horology.

The approach to horology taken by Qian GuoBiao, an independent Chinese watchmaker, is pushing boundaries with every new creation. His innovative explorations were made evident in earlier works, including the Facing the Sky 2.0 and Double Balance Wheel, but his latest endeavor marks an elevating step further. His novel Split-Seconds Chronograph, portraying duality through the independent yet intersecting motion of two chronograph hands, represents a new chapter in his horological journey.

Housed in a water-resistant stainless steel case that spans 40mm in diameter and 14.5mm in thickness, with a technical vibe, the Split-Seconds Chronograph carries a striking presence, exuding luxury and reliability. The case is tastefully complemented with inverted pump pushers, harkening to classic chronographs; one is situated at 8 o’clock while two flank the crown, guarded. Qian ingeniously diverts attention to the dial’s spectacle by opting for a solid caseback, putting front-stage the mechanical motion that truly matters.

The intrinsic charm of a split-seconds chronograph lies in the observer’s thrill when the two hands part ways and reunite. Providing the power to this spectacle is the automatic calibre AB-04, a re-engineered ETA 7750 base, accommodating the split-seconds mechanism. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement delivers a robust 42-hour power reserve. The split-seconds chronograph comes on a custom calf leather strap from a Chinese specialist, JeaYou.

With attention to every element of quality and exclusivity, Qian GuoBiao manufactured only five pieces of this watch, each hand-assembled, polished, and verified earnestly by Qian and his intimate team. The expected delivery time is a full year from the order placement. For horology enthusiasts searching for unique timepieces, the Split-Seconds Chronograph by Qian GuoBiao presents an enticingly limited opportunity, flawlessly marrying aesthetic appeal with mechanical innovation.
