Maurice Lacroix's Orchestration of Time: Unveiling the 1975 Master Grand Date Retrograde Watch

Presenting another audacious addition to the Masterpiece collection, Maurice Lacroix's 1975 Master Grand Date Retrograde combines elegance with innovation.

In the realm of horology, Maurice Lacroix continues to pen an eloquent narrative with its impressive timepieces. Renowned for its elegant watch designs featuring single or multiple retrograde indicators, the brand takes another bold leap by introducing the 1975 Master Grand Date Retrograde to its Masterpiece collection.

Launched in celebration of the brand’s 50th anniversary, the 1975 collection encapsulates an elegant aesthetic divergent from the sporty spirit of the Aikon and Aikonic ranges. Initially modest with simple time-and-date or GMT versions, the series now welcomes its audacious flagship watch - a seamless fusion of a retrograde day indicator, grand date, and a striking skeletonised display.

Marking the 26th edition of the Masterpiece calibre, Maurice Lacroix’s latest creation exposes the meticulous mechanics behind the complications - an extravagant display that spotlights the superior design and craftsmanship. The underside of the mainplate, accented with a sandblasted finish and black rhodium treatment, houses the compelling indicators. Rhodium-plated bridges with razor-sharp triangular shapes enrich the dial with depth and distinction.

Shifting the focus to the hands that dutifully keep time - the hour and minute hands, traced with a trail of white Super-LumiNova, are carefully moulded into trapeze-style shapes. Complementing the grand date, two proportionate discs elucidate the tens and units. The retrograde weekday display finds its place in the lower portion of the dial, revealed by a blued hand and a curved sapphire disc. The mechanics behind this feature elegantly peep from underneath, marrying technical prowess with a playful display.

Encapsulating the spirit of innovation and timeless allure, the Maurice Lacroix 1975 Master Grand Date Retrograde redefines how we perceive and interact with time.
