Oris Watches Adds New Timeless Charm to its Catalogue with the Big Crown Pointer Date "Bullseye"
The Big Crown Pointer Date has been a standout model in the Oris catalogue since its inception in 1938 and has been admired for its timeless quality amongst a variety of designs including sporty Aquis divers and ultra-modern ProPilot X models. The Big Crown Pointer Date holds a special place in the brand’s history, encapsulating a sense of timeless charm with its classic pointer date dial layout, turned bezel, and cathedral hands. However, the Holstein-based brand has never shied away from innovation even in its most classic series, evoking interest with diverse dial colours and unique case metals.
The striking feature of the new model is the “Bullseye” dial, touted as a reinvention of an Oris pocket watch dial from the 1910s. The dial begins with a layer of light silver at the center and outer rings, providing a pleasing contrast with the solid black middle ring. The cathedral hands, together with a pointer date hand tipped in red, enhances visibility, ensuring the smooth progress of time. The vintage touch is sealed in with the classic fluted bezel that elegantly frames the dial.
The watch is constructed in a 38mm Big Crown case, complemented by a black Cervo Volante sustainable deer leather strap. Seeing through its exhibition caseback reveals the brand’s signature red Oris rotor of Oris Calibre 754, an automatic Sellita-based movement with a power reserve of 41 hours. Priced competitively at $2,350, the Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye” is a commendable addition to Oris’ line-up, promising the perfect balance between classic aesthetics and modern sophistication.
