Delma Oceanmaster Lume: A Luminous Gamechanger in the Sailing and Diving World

Unveiled in 2017, the Delma Oceanmaster has been aiming to invigorate the world of sport watches. Their newest addition, the Oceanmaster Lume, sets a higher bar with its fully-luminous dial, a significant upgrade from the inaugural model. Much like its predecessors, the Oceanmaster Lume finds its roots in Delma’s flagship collection of dive watches, setting the stage for peak underwater functionality. The Oceanmaster Lume is essentially the luminous-dial version of the Oceanmaster Antarctica, a limited-edition timepiece released in 2020. While the ‘Antarctica’ version was a tribute to the 200th anniversary of Antarctica’s discovery, the Lume is available in four standard-production dial colors (blue, green, yellow, and orange) and a limited-edition ‘Oliver Heer Ocean Racing’ white-dial edition. The Oceanmaster Lume’s case is made from 316L stainless steel, measuring 44mm in diameter and 13.8mm in thickness. This sturdy construct resonates with the Swiss brand’s signature aesthetics, which is also visible in its polished Shell Star lineup. The dimensions are paralleled to its stainless steel sibling, the Shell Star Automatic. As with other models in the brand’s repertoire, the Oceanmaster Lume is secured by a display-style caseback and protected at the front by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. The watch is water-resistant up to 500 meters, which is impressive not just for sailing, but for scuba diving as well. However, certain features are more attuned to a dive watch, such as the brushed stainless steel bezel insert on the Oceanmaster Lume, featuring a ‘nautical’ scale with compass/degree markings. Its bezel rotates with a unidirectional 120-click action, best-suited for diving. Overall, the Delma Oceanmaster Lume is a perfect fusion of form and functionality, promising not only a great visual but also an exceptional underwater experience.
