Quiet Club: Breathing Innovation into Watchmaking Through the Fading Hours Debut
Operating from a modern workshop in Sumida City, Tokyo, Quiet Club represents the collaboration of a dedicated trio from across the globe. Their first project, ‘Fading Hours,’ is an ambitious endeavour that strives to redefine watch design. Norifumi Seki, a Tokyo-based watchmaker with numerous awards under his belt, is at the heart of the creative ensemble. Despite being only 23 years old in 2021, he was the first Asian watchmaker to bag the coveted F.P. Journe’s Young Talent Competition in 2020, a feat that did not go unnoticed. Quiet Club’s recognition as a Louis Vuitton Watch Prize finalist for Independent Creatives only further cements its growing reputation in the horological industry.
While the transition from tech and automotive to watchmaking might seem unusual, it allowed for the infusion of fresh ideas into a field often beset by convention. Hokuto and Johnny understood that to disrupt the norm, they needed a craftsman at the helm, and thus, Seki was roped in. This synergy of varying skillsets eventually gave birth to a timepiece that is daring, inventive, and the culmination of cross-continental collaboration.
