Movado Revamps its Historic Charm with the Heritage 1917 Watch Collection

Published: 17 Dec 2025
Swiss watch brand Movado takes a magnificent leap backward in time, reviving its 1917 wristwatch design, bringing it to life in the modern age.

One of the well-reputed brands in the watch industry, the Swiss-made Movado is known for its iconic Museum Watch and a striking assortment of timepieces which spans over a hundred years. The rich heritage of Movado takes us back to 1881, employing 150 watchmakers within its first 25 years. A fine example of its centuries-old history is the timeless design created in 1917, a design that has been beautifully revisited in the new Movado Heritage 1917 collection.

By 1917, the popularity of wristwatches was rising considerably. The urgent needs of World War I, with a year still left for its end, had encouraged the widespread use of wristwatches, showcasing their practical utility in the field. This set the stage for compact, elegant watches, with Movado presenting precisely that. The wristwatches were predominantly small, square or rectangular, and influenced by an ethos of practicality and modesty.

Both versions of the watch hold their unique appeal, with subtle differences that add to the joy of ownership. From slim crowns with modest guards to embossed Heritage logos, Movado ensures every single detail is attuned to the vintage feel. The larger watch is available in various options, from steel with black or brown leather to a matching unilink bracelet. Each design offers its unique aesthetic – be it understated elegance or a sporty appeal, thereby following Movado’s commitment to versatility.
