Konstantin Chaykin Redefines Horology with Novelty Watch Inspired by Botticelli’s 'Birth of Venus'
The inspired fusion of art and time has been beautifully articulated through the craftsmanship of watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin in his Wristmon watch series. The series, which initially won acclaim for the novel ‘Joker’ design, has evolved into an impressive line of imaginative designs to capture the human and animalistic essence. The latest design takes inspiration from Sandro Botticelli’s world-renowned artwork, the ‘Birth of Venus’. This revolutionary timepiece was realized through collaboration with the Italian retailer, GMT Milano, delivering a significant piece of wearable art that embodies the spirit of Botticelli’s Venus in an unusual yet alluring design.
The finishing includes a hair-like guilloché pattern and the Chaykin logo styled elegantly as a pendant around the neck of Venus. Powering the timepiece is the La Joux-Perret G200 automatic base incorporated with an in-house module to create the calibre K18.25. It operates at a rate of 28,800vph, making it as reliable as it is unique. The movement can be observed through the sapphire crystal on the case back, powered by a customized central rotor.
Limited edition Venus, available in just 99 exclusively crafted pieces, comes with a black alligator leather strap, enhanced with blue stitching to complement the moon phase. The price tag attached to this artwork-inspired timekeeper stands at CHF 20,000 (excluding VAT).
