Defying traditional narratives of watch brand launches, Norway-based zeruzzi introduces a fresh take on horology with its debut timepiece, FAZE 1. Launched in 2023 by design visionary Daniel Serussi, zeruzzi is founded on the premise that watches can embody both instrumentality and artistry, not just conceptually but aesthetically.

The unique aesthetics of FAZE 1 are personified in its sculptural dial, crafted in the form of a human face in profile – a recurring motif throughout the design. For Serussi, this isn’t a mere design quirk but an intentional thesis asserting that time isn’t just exhibited, but processed: perceived, absorbed, and internalized. He subscribes to the belief that time dwells deep within us, not just on our wrists, but within our thoughts and memories.

Though boasting an avant-garde aesthetic, FAZE 1 respects traditional watchmaking norms in its construction. It’s Swiss-made, utilizing the reliable ETA E01.001 quartz movement, chosen for its slim profile. The timepiece features a 316L stainless-steel case, a sapphire crystal, and is paired with a full-grain calf-leather strap sporting a butterfly clasp. The watch’s standout feature, however, is its distinct geometry, designed to straddle the line between functionality and expression.

Despite being a fledgling in the field, zeruzzi has already garnered attention, particularly with a surprising endorsement from Canadian TV personality Kevin O’Leary. He compared the FAZE 1 favorably with his own Cartier Crash on Instagram, drawing parallels between the timepieces emphasizing unique design that transcends traditional horology. This endorsement expanded zeruzzi’s audience beyond its initial design enthusiasts, marking an auspicious start for a brand rooted in creative expression as opposed to classical heritage.
