Unveiling the Intricacies Behind the Formex Essence Ceramica Dark Matter’s Impressive Design and Construction

Published: 09 Dec 2025
Delving deep into the celestial design of Formex's latest marvel - the Essence Ceramica Dark Matter - an extraordinary timepiece fusing advanced ceramics and fragments of space.

Celebrating a quarter of a century in the industry, Formex rhythmically oscillates between tradition and innovation with the introduction of the Essence Ceramica Dark Matter. This celestial timepiece captures the immensity of space itself by using a dial cut from a meteorite, accentuated by their advanced ceramic construction. The distinctive blend of these materials defines the essence of Formex’s journey through time, encapsulating both their traditional chronometers and prototype models.

The most ambitious of the Formex Essence family, the Dark Matter, displays an elevated allure. Its 41mm x 11.2mm case, sculpted from zirconium oxide ceramic, holds Formex’s signature suspension system. The meticulous diamond-polished ceramic surfaces reveal sharp transitions and light reflections, endorsing both aesthetics and utility. The ceramic case weighs 56 grams, offering great comfort and resistance to scratching. The dial is made from a single block of Muonionalusta meteorite, enhanced by a proprietary dark-nickel electroplating process.

The timepiece runs on the Soprod Newton P092, a new COSC-certified automatic calibre built explicitly for Formex. This design has been thoroughly Chronofiable-tested for endurance and houses a precision-milled date window at 6 o’clock. The watch also features a uniquely designed vertically brushed full-ceramic bracelet fitted with a micro-adjustable ceramic clasp, making it desirable among watch connoisseurs. Relatively low production numbers keep this mesmerizing timepiece exclusive, with only 100 pieces manufactured per year.
