Defying Convention: Czapek Marks its 10th Anniversary with the Release of Time Jumper Watch Collection
Czapek, a brand with a deep-seated history of nearly 200 years, celebrates its tenth anniversary in the modern era by launching an exciting new watch family, the Time Jumper. The expansion of the Czapek universe is a testament to the resurgence of the brand under the leadership of Xavier De Roquemaurel.\ With Time Jumper, Czapek introduces a unique watch category known as the ‘guichet’ class, where windows or apertures are utilized to display information such as hours and minutes. This watch model integrates a newly developed in-house mechanical movement, a jump hour feature, and a minute indicator disc.\ The Time Jumper showcases an interesting case design featuring a ‘half hunter’ opening lid, making a clear nod to pocket watch aesthetics. Additionally, the case is graced with intricate guilloché engraving, giving it an elaborate appearance. The collection debuts with two limited-edition models in gold and a combination of steel and platinum.\ However, designing the Time Jumper has been anything but smooth sailing for the Swiss brand. There were several challenges to overcome, such as the complicated nature of the digital mechanical watch dials, the potential gimmicky impression of the case with opening sections, and the dichotomous blend of vintage and contemporary aesthetics. Nevertheless, in collaboration with visual designer Thomas Funder, Czapek has crafted a painstakingly balanced timepiece that turns these potential pitfalls into compelling features.\ Notwithstanding the obstacles, the Time Jumper turned out to be a delightful surprise, bringing together classic and modern elements in a delightful harmony. Behind the uniqueness of the Time Jumper is an automatic movement developed by the brand called caliber 10.01 or Calibre 10.1.
