Vacheron Constantin Unveils Gender-Neutral Transformation of Its Traditionnelle Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Watches

Movement towards a gender-neutral approach is growing within the watchmaking industry and leading brand Vacheron Constantin is setting the tone with its latest groundbreaking release in 2025. Departing from traditionally gendered interpretations, the renowned watchmaker has ushered in a trio of gender-neutral models of its illustrious Traditionnelle Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin series. The newcomer timepieces sport the same classic mechanical design but their aesthetic deviates from conventional notions of femininity and masculinity.

Originally launched at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022, this timepiece, certified with the Geneva Seal, was chiefly targeted at female collectors, with its original design featuring mother-of-pearl dials and diamond-studded cases. However, the versatile design and moderate size of 36.5mm present a broad appeal beyond binary gender divisions. Capitalizing on this, the celebrated watchmaker is broadening its horizons to a wider audience with silver-toned dials replacing the original mother-of-pearl.

The new versions retain the original specifications, with cases measuring 36.5mm in diameter and 8.43mm thick. They also maintain a 30-meter water resistance and use the same winding crown and push-pieces for setting. Despite the commonality, each individual model exudes its unique charm, including the diamond-set version that has a less feminine appearance thanks to the silver-toned opaline dial. In contrast, the other two models feature smooth bezels and lugs and classic crowns bearing the iconic Vacheron’s Maltese Cross emblem.

Breaking traditional norms and expectations, Vacheron Constantin’s latest release illustrates that luxury timepieces do not have to conform to typical gender archetypes. Rather, these timepieces are an assertion of individual style and preference, freeing the world of horology from outdated gender constraints.
