Two Swiss watchmaking rivals, Urwerk and Ulysse Nardin, join forces, creating an exquisite limited-edition timepiece — the UR-FREAK.

In a groundbreaking move that has left horology enthusiasts awestruck, Urwerk and Ulysse Nardin, two stalwarts of Swiss watchmaking, have launched a joint prowess, the UR-FREAK. This association manifests a perfect blend of Ulysse Nardin’s illustrious ‘Freak’ flying carousel complication and Urwerk’s hallmark ‘UR’ wandering hours satellite display. Featuring three satellite arms each with a domed disc, this intriguing timepiece delights with an hours display like no other. As one satellite arm completes its 60-minute journey, the next instantly jumps to start its own pilgrimage. Accompanied by a retrograde minutes display, this orchestrated movement is nothing short of mesmerising. Encased in a lightweight titanium chamber, the prowess of the UN-241 automatic movement comes to life, assuring a robust 90-hour power reserve. Dominated by a domed sapphire crystal front and a secured open caseback, the UR-FREAK is the embodiment of resilience, offering water resistance up to 30 meters. The DIAMonSIL® silicon escapement, originally pioneered by Ulysse Nardin, makes its pivotal appearance in this state-of-the-art timepiece. The feasibility of setting the time via a rotating bezel blends effortlessly with the ‘Grinder’ system for automatic winding, augmenting the appeal of this exclusive watch. Limiting to a scarce 100 pieces globally, each retailing at a premium price tag of $122,200, the UR-FREAK pioneers a new era of creative synergies in the realm of watchmaking, proving that collaborating can indeed breed compelling brilliance.
