Atelier Wen and Revolution's Remarkable New Watch Exemplifies East Meets East

Published: 22 Nov 2025
The unveiling of the Ancestra Yao, a collaboration between Atelier Wen and Revolution, heralds a new epoch in watchmaking that intertwines Chinese heritage with Middle Eastern aesthetics.

Embracing tradition while challenging the familiar narrative, Atelier Wen, known for revolutionising the ‘Made in China’ reputation in watchmaking, launches Ancestra Yao in collaboration with Revolution. Debuted at Dubai Watch Week 2025, the Ancestra Yao not only shines a spotlight on Chinese craftsmanship but also incorporates Middle Eastern aesthetics and history, bringing the concept of ‘East meets East’ to the fore.

The watch, featuring a 904L stainless steel case, measures 38mm in diameter with a sleek 11.3mm thickness. The design mirrors the original Ancestra model’s aesthetic, boasting lavish curves inspired by ancient Hongshan jade dragon carvings. Thanks to the contrast created by an alternating brushed and polished finish, the case emanates a shimmering, jewel-like charisma.

Underpinning this enchanting timepiece is the customised Pequignet EPM03 automatic movement, meticulously finished with micro-etched lines and a rotor that combines snailing on the raised edges with a frosted recess. This extraordinary movement, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, not only offers a 65-hour power reserve but exceeds chronometric standards. Cloaked in a full-grain leather strap, the Ancestra Yao fuses the grace of Epsom cream with Zermatt lining, securing the strap with a 904L steel pin buckle.
