Omega rekindles its famed Seamaster 120 'Baby Ploprof' and reinvents the iconic Seamaster Planet Ocean Collection in dramatic fashion.

Omega, famed Swiss watch manufacturer, may be on the verge of reviving one of its key vintage models, the Seamaster 120 ‘Baby Ploprof’. The ‘Baby Ploprof’, aptly named by collectors, represents a smaller form of the legendary Ploprof dive watches, known for its distinctive hand design. This vintage timepiece, stemming from the late 1970s, features a robust integrated bracelet, automated caliber 1010 movement, and a remarkable 120 meters of water resistance. Encased in a non-traditional yet striking 39-40mm angular stainless steel shell, its durable design leaves an unforgettable mark on the spectators. Inspired by a recent ‘Orange’ themed teaser on its official Instagram page, Omega has fueled speculation about the potential comeback of the Seamaster 120 ‘Baby Ploprof’. The compelling visual showed a closer resemblance to the classic Seamaster 120 with its trademark large orange minute hand.

Moreover, Omega triumphantly celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Seamaster Planet Ocean collection with a complete overhaul. Dismissing speculations about the ‘Baby Ploprof’ inclusion, the new Planet Ocean lineup features distinct angular lines reminiscent of the highly revered 1970s ‘Baby Ploprof’. Its new offerings pose a significant transition with a slimmer 42mm x 13.79mm casing, supplemented by a newly introduced automatic Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 8912. This masterpiece promises precision, guaranteeing timekeeping ranging from 0/-5 seconds per day. It additionally houses a 38 jewel movement, high-efficiency bi-directional winding, offers a substantial 60-hour power reserve, and defies magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. The dive watch also pledges enhanced ergonomics through a redesigned stainless steel bracelet and offers an impressive 600 meters water resistance while adhering to the stringent ISO 6425:2018 dive watch standard. The remodeled design, although vouching for an evolutionary leap, retains the quintessential ‘Planet Ocean’ DNA through its ceramic bezel insert resembling the third-generation models.
