Robot Unveils 'Robotic One': A Chronograph Inspired by Precision, Biomorphism and Heritage

The term ‘robot’ is steeply grounded in the Czechoslovakian space, with the term blooming from the soil of Czech language. Gifted to the world by writer Karel Čapek in his 1920 science fiction play “R.U.R.”, the term stands as an irreplaceable pillar of Czech heritage. Embracing this profound connection, Czech watch brand Robot shapes its identity and legacy. However, the connection didn’t manifest into the physical space of their watch designs, until the advent of their latest conceptualization - The Robotic One.

Eilinger’s design aesthetic is deeply infused with fluidity and a biomorphic language, as evident in his previous creation - the Streamliner series of integrated bracelet watches, birthed in collaboration with Moser. The Robot Robotic One channels similar essence, underpinned by the thematic foundation of robotics. This infusion explodes into an array of robot-themed design elements that subtly emerge through both the dial and the case of the watch.

Swimming against the trends, the Robotic One is crafted not from the standard 316L stainless steel, but from the 904L variant. Its asymmetrical silhouette gently captures the shape of a robot head, measured at 43.2mm by 14.8mm. Ensuring resilience and durability, the case hosts an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a screw-on display caseback, and promises a solid water resistance of 100 meters.

The Robotic One upholds the characteristic oddities of Robot’s spirit by featuring two different styles of pushers for the movement control. While one is a prominent pump-style pusher making way for start/stop controls, the other is an elongated button serving as the reset button for the chronograph.

Encapsulating an organic and fluid form, the Robotic One overturns the design legacy of Robot’s Aerodynamic series. Its dial features a classic 3-6-9 chronograph register layout with a distinctively stylized angular font for the hour markers. Bearing the design analogy of a robot’s eyes and mouth, these design elements make the Robotic One a bold and intriguing standout in Robot’s collection.
