Dive into the fascinating world of Moritz Grossmann's new interpretations of its most complex tourbillons, Titanium and Tremblage
Renowned for its relentless pursuit of perfection and innovation, Moritz Grossmann has recently introduced two novel interpretations of its most complex masterpiece - the Tourbillon Titanium and the Tourbillon Tremblage. Despite retaining the mechanical characteristics of the original model launched in 2013 (the Grossmann calibre 103.0), these additions pack a punch with a myriad of distinctive features.
Known far and wide for inspiring from the brilliance of Alfred Helwig, the Grossmann’s first in-house tourbillon is unique for maintaining a three-minute rotation and an architecture reminiscent of a flying organism. The brand-new Tourbillon Titanium articulates this design principle in an ultra-modern manner by adopting light materials and a contemporary aesthetic. The three-part case measures 44.5mm in diameter and 13.9mm in thickness, presenting a sleek bezel and a subtly darkened metallic exterior. The solid silver scene is heightened by a hand-cut fine grain d’orge guilloché pattern, and off-centred hour and seconds sub-dials that underscore the 6 o’clock spectacle of the flying tourbillon.
On the other side of the spectrum, the Tourbillon Tremblage encapsulates the spirit of traditional craftsmanship in an 18k white gold case complemented by a salmon-toned solid silver dial. The dial is finished using the antiquated tremblage technique that soft, matte grain across the watch’s surface, signifying artisanal depth.
However, both versions are anchored by the manually wound Calibre 103.0, featuring untreated German silver plates, bridges with wide Glashütte ribbing, polished bevels, and hand engravings on the plate and tourbillon cock. The cage is large enough to hold a 14.2mm Grossmann balance that oscillates at 18,000 vph, with a Nivarox 1 balance spring and a Gustav Gerstenberger terminal curve. Together, they bear testament to the painstaking detail and exceptional craftsmanship that Moritz Grossmann brings to the world of luxury watches.
