Discover the Artistry behind the Timex Atelier's GMT24 M1a Automatic Timepiece
The Timex Group gambled on a brighter future last month with the introduction of its innovative Timex Atelier brand. It propelled Timex into the saturated realm of microbrands. The company seeks to blend its exceptional design prowess from past successful endeavors and its abundant resources to carve a niche in the market.
With this move, Timex ventured into an upmarket shift. The inaugural release of the Timex Atelier Marine M1a had Giorgio Galli’s sailor-inspired features, like contrasting midcase, unique tool-free adjustable bracelet, and pierced lugs. Following this release, a successor emerged promptly - the Timex Atelier GMT24 M1a Automatic.
This timepiece stands out with a three-dimensional design, a bezel-free rounded crystal, and a minutes track that slopes towards the wearer. An inward slope of the outer dial holds the 24-hour ring for the bright orange GMT hand. A raised metal applique wraps the hour markers around the center dial.
Turning the timepiece uncovers the exhibition caseback flaunting the automatic Landeron 24 caller-style GMT movement. While it has standard specs for a GMT caliber including a 40-hour power reserve, the movement functionality is a slight compromise for such an exquisitely built timepiece.
