Reviving the 70's Spirit: Favre Leuba's Chief Chronograph Now in British Racing Green and Dune
Celebrated for bringing vibrant shades and distinctive designs to their watch collections, Favre Leuba now expands its Chief Chronograph series with two invigorating editions in British Racing Green and Dune, living up to its reputation for playful and characterful timepieces. Originally launched in 2024, the Chief Chronograph drew attention for its modern recreation of the brand’s 1970s designs, paired with a complex dial construction. With an emphasis on persona over profile, these new references continue to reflect the brand’s creative vision.
Every detail contributes to the star quality of the dial. It is the result of multiple production steps, which include a sunburst finish on the main surface, circular brushing on the sub-dials, and a ribbed outline around the rim. On top of creating impressive depth and texture, the dial boasts carefully chosen colours.
The British Racing Green model derives its colour inspiration from the iconic motorsports hue, transitioning from light to dark depending on the lighting conditions. In contrast, the Dune model opts for a mellow elegance, with its sandy shade complemented by rose gold-colored accents. Both versions come with applied indices, multi-faceted hands, and Super-LumiNova X1 for enhanced readability. A tachymeter scale on the inner ring hints at the watch’s sporty roots, while the chronograph minutes and running seconds find space at three o’clock and nine o’clock, respectively.
Under the hood, the Favre Leuba Chief Chronograph runs on the automatic FLC02 calibre, developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 68-hour power reserve. In keeping with Favre Leuba’s traditions, the movement features Geneva stripes, perlage, blued screws, and a skeletonized rotor visible through the sapphire back, along with a distinctive thermally blued column wheel.
Both the British Racing Green and Dune editions are presented with Favre Leuba’s integrated two-link steel bracelet that matches the case, blending brushed and polished finishes. For those seeking an alternative look, colour-matched FKM rubber straps are also available. Now part of the permanent collection, these new Chief Chronograph models are priced at CHF 4,375 on the steel bracelet and CHF 4,300 on the rubber strap.
