Delving into India's Horological Tapestry: The Breakthrough Titan Nebula Jalsa Tourbillon

Published: 09 Aug 2025
India is quietly asserting itself in the sphere of watchmaking, showcasing their prowess with the remarkable Titan Nebula Jalsa – the country’s first-ever tourbillon watch.

While Switzerland remains synonymous with watchmaking, several other countries are making notable strides in horology. Notably, India is emerging as a significant force both as a production center and a growing market. Titan Company Limited firmly occupies the heart of India’s watch industry. Established in 1984, Titan is India’s premier lifestyle brand, retailing not only watches but also jewelry, eyewear, and fragrances. What truly underscores its magnitude is the staggering number of watches it sells annually – an impressive 15 million watches, surpassing the entire Swiss watch industry.

Powered by the in-house calibre 7TH1, the watch boasted a one-minute flying tourbillon cage resembling the ‘T’ of Titan while serving as a small second indicator. By 2025, Titan released another marvel, the Jalsa Tourbillon, saluting 225 years of Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal palace. The watch, part of the precious Nebula line, showcased a beautiful marble dial painted by Padma Shri Shakir Ali. With a royalty-inspired miniature painting under an awe-inspiring domed sapphire crystal, the dial construction took more than two years, with each dial requiring 120-130 hours of handwork, rendering each piece distinctive.

With the Titan Nebula Jalsa, India’s horological landscape has attained a commendable feat, mirroring the nation’s rich artisanal heritage on a global stage. The unveiling of this tourbillon watch symbolizes a paradigm shift in Indian watchmaking, displaying its potential to compete in the luxury and premium watch market.
