Born out of Seiko’s rich motorsport legacy and commitment to precision timing, the recently launched Prospex Speedtimer Mechanical Chronograph SRQ055 holds true to the spirit of its predecessors. Back in 1969, the original Seiko Speedtimer made history with its unprecedented automatic chronograph housing a vertical clutch and a column wheel. That very year also marked the debut of the dynamic Datsun 240Z, a Japanese sports car that etched its name into global rallying fame. This intertwined legacy of motorsport prowess and precision timing paves the way for Seiko’s latest Speedtimer lineup including the SRQ055.

Balancing practicality with aesthetics, the SRQ055 enhances its visual appeal while staying rooted in the robust look of former Speedtimers. Its stainless steel case, water-resistant up to 100m, owns an impressive presence with its 42mm diameter and 14.6mm thickness. Seiko has also artistically updated the bracelet, giving it a sharpened aesthetic, augmented by heightened comfort on the wrist. The watch is exclusively available on this stainless steel bracelet, replete with a three-fold clasp and push-button release. With a price tag of EUR 2,800, the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Mechanical Chronograph SRQ055 ensures a solid chronograph draped in elegance and performance. The SRQ055 continues to keep Seiko’s commitment to precision alive by housing Seiko’s own calibre 8R48, an automatic chronograph movement boasting a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. It includes a vertical clutch and column wheel, reminiscent of its 1969 predecessor while the watch’s escapement components feature the MEMS technology for further durability and precision.
