Impressive Design and Weight: Zenith x Revolution's Chronomaster Revival A3818 'Cover Girl Carbon'
Horology enthusiasts have a new timepiece on their radar: the Zenith x Revolution Chronomaster Revival A3818 ‘Cover Girl Carbon.’ This outstanding piece, a result of a creative partnership between Swiss watchmaking pioneer Zenith and Revolution Media in Singapore, is a remarkable addition to the horology world due its exceptional lightness achieved by extensive use of carbon.
Surprisingly, the heaviest part of this watch is its heart - the in-house El Primero Caliber 400 automatic movement. The case and dial are made from an attractive carbon form, giving the watch a total weight of just 55 grams on a Velcro-style strap. This lightweight beauty also comes in an even more exclusive variant featuring a matching carbon bracelet, the likely first of its kind which notably doubles the watch’s price.
The Chronomaster case hails back to the original El Primero of the late 1960s and early 1970s, a time when mechanical watches were being replaced by quartz. But the El Primero movement has once again risen to popularity, and Zenith has revived many of the classic case and dial designs that defined the original models around 2019. The result is a sports watch design that feels contemporary but retains classic elements. The textured, black ‘high-modulus’ carbon case is 37mm wide and 12.5mm thick, with a 47mm lug-to-lug distance, making it a versatile piece that could be comfortably worn by most women.
