Ulysse Nardin Expands Its Blast Free Wheel Collection with the Classic Maillechort Edition

Published: 22 Jul 2025
Ulysse Nardin, known for its aesthetic variations of unconventional mechanical designs, introduces a new addition to its Blast Free Wheel series: the Maillechort.

In its unending quest to balance vintage aesthetics with innovative mechanical design, Ulysse Nardin offers a new thrill to watch aficionados with the latest addition to its Blast Free Wheel series - the Blast Free Wheel Maillechort. Introduced in 2018 with the Executive Tourbillon Skeleton Free Wheel, the series has expanded with remarkable limited editions featuring unique dials, notably the Blast Free Wheel Marquetry in 2023.

The innovative design places the barrel, gear train, and regulating organ above the dial, giving the impression that they are floating. The Maillechort edition sets a new standard with its dial and caseback plate crafted from Maillechort or German Silver - a traditional copper-zinc-nickel alloy by French engineers Maillet and Chorier in the 19th century. Honoured for its warm tone and delicate texture, Maillechort brings an added level of visual allure to this limited series.

The UN-176 calibre enhances the visual engineering theme. The 12 o’clock position houses a double-barrel system offering a 7-day power reserve. Furthermore, the Ulysse Anchor Constant Escapement flying tourbillon employs ultra-thin silicon blade springs to offer consistent balance wheel impulses, ensuring stable amplitude regardless of the power reserve.

Certainly, Ulysse Nardin brings, yet again, the epitome of craftsmanship and aesthetic vision to the Swiss watchmaking industry with the Blast Free Wheel Maillechort. Priced at around CHF120,000 or EUR128,100, it is bound to make waves amongst horology enthusiasts.
