The Tale of Opulence: Montblanc Unveils Parisian-Inspired Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph

Montblanc, synonymous with luxury fountain pens, decided to branch out into the realm of horology in 1997, drawing design cues from their famed Meisterstück pens. They aimed to solidify their mark in the watch industry, which culminated with the acquisition of the esteemed Minerva manufacture. The company then launched Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph in 2007, a unique timepiece with revolving registers, fueled by the brand’s first in-house movement.

The most recent Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph boasts a large 43mm pebble-shaped steel case and has many features in common with preceding editions. Aesthetically, the salient change lies in its off-centered green dial featuring dots rather than the traditional railway minutes track. The greyish-green dial is adorned with the handsome Clous de Paris motif, paying homage to Paris’ cobbled streets.

Adding to the timepiece’s charm, the new interchangeable green calfskin strap showcases a map of Paris from 1821. The display caseback gives glimpses of manufacture calibre MB R200, an automatic integrated chronograph movement with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Operating on twin barrels, the timepiece offers a 72-hour power reserve, encompassing the quintessential blend of the Parisian essence with Montblanc’s horological prowess.
