Exploring the Sea-Inspired Design and Cutting-Edge Technology of Panerai's Luminor Luna Rossa Timepieces

The Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team and Panerai join forces once again in a partnership that continues to redefine horology. This alliance has produced two timepieces that embody the pioneering spirit of both entities, the Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654 and Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653. These releases truly capture the essence of competitive sailing aesthetics, melded with the rugged identity of the celebrated Luminor collection.

The PAM01654 re-introduces a flyback chronograph into the Luna Rossa line, while the PAM01653 offers a more streamlined time-and-date layout. Both models are marked by Luna Rossa-branded textile-and-rubber straps and feature the logo on a matte grey dial.

This model hosts a grey sandwich dial with a matte finish. Legibility is emphasised with white Super-LumiNovaX1 treated indices, hands, and red chronograph accents. Elapsed time tracking precision is facilitated by a central red chronograph seconds and jumping minutes counter hands. Sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock show the chronograph hour counter and running seconds respectively, while the nautical tachymeter scale is printed on the encased inner flange.

Driven by Panerai’s in-house chronograph movement, Panerai calibre P.9100, this watch features advanced mechanisms such as vertical clutch, column wheel, and flyback functionality. The movement also uses a self-locking ball-bearing rotor, which is highly efficient in winding.

Alongside the PAM01654, Panerai also introduces the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653. This model follows the Luna Rossa style but presents a more accessible, time-only design approach. These show-stopping limited-edition timepieces draw the world’s eye, offering an unrivalled fusion of advanced craftsmanship and innovative design.
