Glasgow’s anOrdain Enhances Timepiece Collection with the Launch of Model 2 Porcelain.
Scotland’s independent watchmaker, anOrdain, renowned for reinvigorating the art of enamel in contemporary timepieces, has recently unveiled the Model 2 Porcelain. This exciting chapter marks the brand’s first foray into the realm of genuine porcelain, a venture developed over a span of three years, in collaboration with expert potters from Stoke-on-Trent. The Model 2 Porcelain - a compelling reinterpretation of the field watch - marries the brand’s characteristic artisanal approach with the delicate beauty of porcelain. The Model 2 Porcelain is encased in a brushed 316L stainless steel case of 39.5mm, and bolsters practical proportions reminiscent of a tool watch. This includes a height of 11mm and a 46mm lug-to-lug span. Blessing the Model 2 Porcelain with practical utility is a domed sapphire crystal treated with six layers of anti-reflective coating, and a firm screw-in caseback that allows for personalised engravings. The timepiece is adequately water-resistant - up to 50 metres - making it apt for daily use and the occasional adventure. The highlight of the Model 2 Porcelain is unquestionably the striking black-glazed porcelain dial. Expertly crafted in-house with a delicate blend of traditional and state-of-the-art techniques, this dial stands out with its rich texture, natural dimples, and specks that bear testimony to the hand-crafted nature of its production. The deep black hue is achieved via a custom high-fire glaze infused with iron oxide. The Model 2 Porcelain is powered by the La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and promising a substantial 68-hour power reserve. Customers can choose from a versatile array of 20mm straps including premium leather, shell cordovan or suede sourced from a German manufacturer boasting over seventy years of experience. Currently, the Model 2 Porcelain is available for customers to place orders at GBP 1,800 plus VAT via the anOrdain website. The brand will manufacture around 30 dials per month to maintain the authenticity of the traditional porcelain-making process. The brand also envisions the launch of a 36mm edition of the Model 2 Porcelain in 2025.
