A unique opportunity arose a few months ago when the Journe team brought together nearly every version of the Chronomètre Souverain ever made - a treat for collectors who usually stumble upon these pieces sporadically. The event was an immersive experience, highlighting the diverse range of designs within the Chronomètre Souverain through the ages.

The Chronomètre Souverain’s power reserve—positioned distinctly at 3 o’clock—is one of its most praised features. This characteristic was formed through an innovative product design approach that starts with the dial. However, the positioning of the power reserve presented complications due to the watch’s slim 8mm profile. After eight months of development, Journe’s team managed to reduce the power reserve mechanism from 1.57mm to 0.5 mm, enabling the design of the Chronomètre Souverain to proceed. In the course of its 20 year lifespan, the Chronomètre Souverain has grown to become not only an iconic model within the F.P. Journe line up, but also a classic within the larger watch community.
