The Union Glashütte Viro Date Collection Undergoes a Stylish Transformation for 2025: Classic, Timeless Meets Contemporary Innovation

Published: 25 Feb 2025
Union Glashütte's emblematic Viro Date collection, known for its timeless elegance, is presenting an inspiring aesthetic makeover for 2025. The collection maintains its classic allure while intriguingly evolving its style and mechanics.

The Viro Date collection, first debuting in 2008 and later refined in 2016 by the German stalwart Union Glashütte, is set to undergo another transformation. Already acknowledged as a premium example of timeless elegance, the series is getting a rejuvenated aesthetic appeal and technical upgrades designed to command its stature among the brand’s watch collections. The revamp, however, does not take away from the watch’s classic design, instead adding a touch of modern aesthetics and improved mechanical functionality.

For many, Union Glashütte, a subsidiary of the Swatch Group, is familiar for its race car-inspired chronographs and the historical 1893 Johannes Dürrstein Editions. However, their diverse collection also includes the Viro Date, an embodiment of a timeless classic and a popular choice for daily-wear. Due for its second facelift, the new design brings a refreshing blend of trendiness and tradition.

The dial, transformed impressively, is available in four colours - silver, black, ice blue and green, each version offering something unique. The modernity of the ice blue and green comes from a light sunray-brushed pattern, while the classic black and silver have a subtle matte finish. The dial also introduces a new railroad-style minute track. The elongated baton markers have been reshaped for a more modern appeal, with the hour and minute hands coated with Super-LumiNova, allowing them to glow in the dark. A touch of creativity is seen in the discreet red insert on the seconds hand in contrast to the sleek, minimalist design.
