However, Maen aimed to embrace a vision of its own rather than merely duplicating the Genta designs. Seeking to create a distinct product that retains the famed ‘shaped, integrated bracelet watch’, Maen conceived the Manhattan, starting with an ‘airplane window’ oval dial. The dial gets married to an attractive case featuring side flanks, resulting in a splendid watch donning a comfortable bracelet.

The realm of mechanical movements often caters to the more heavyweight watches. Maen, however, chose to tread a different path with the selection of a thinner, manually wound movement for its Manhattan collection, aiming to achieve the balance of design aesthetics and convenience. The brand also does offer an automatic version, the Maen Manhattan 40, which is slightly thicker than the 39 Ultra Thin. Notwithstanding its appeal, the automatic version doesn’t truly satisfy the desire for a slim and elegant watch such as the Maen Manhattan 39 Ultra Thin.
