Unprecedented Changes in the Watch Arena: De Bethune CEO Steps Down and Chrono24 Undergoes Rebranding

Published: 11 Jun 2025
A noteworthy reshuffling is underway in the world of horology with changes at De Bethune and Chrono24 leading the roundup.

Two major events are shifting the watch industry’s landscape. At De Bethune, a brand lauded for master watchmaker Denis Flageollet’s inventive timepieces, CEO Pierre Jacques is passing the torch. Jacques first took the helm in 2011 and, despite critical adulation for the brand’s pioneering designs, navigated through challenging financial terrain. Jacques led the company through changes in ownership, culminating in The 1916 Company, formerly known as Watchbox, acquiring majority ownership in 2021. Now, Jacques will serve as Honorary President, ensuring a smooth transition. Continuing the brand’s legacy are Justin Reis, executive chairman from The 1916 Company, and Flageollet as the brand’s creative and technical lead.
