Stemming from a desire to create a sleeker, clean-dial timepiece, Swiss brand Frederique Constant has joined hands with the watch community, Watch Angels. The collaboration has resulted in the classy, 40mm Worldtimer Manufacture watch, housing the revered in-house FC-718 automatic worldtimer movement.

In the world of Swiss horology, creating a new timepiece can often require a medley of resources, due to the extensive production considerations involved. Over time, this has led to the common practice of outsourcing the design and manufacturing process of a new product, a method that Frederique Constant appears to have embraced for the creation of their latest offering. Rather than producing all their new designs in-house, the luxury watchmaker leveraged the expertise of manufacturing partners and designers to bring the Worldtimer Manufacture 40mm to life.

The caliber FC-718, introduced over a decade ago, is an exciting mixture of features and value. The automatic movement enables full functionality, all operated through a single crown - a badge of refinement and a testimony to its uniqueness in its price range. In this new offering, Watch Angels and Frederique Constant have carefully mitigated a ‘quirk’ about the FC-718’s layout by removing the date indicator dial.

The dial has been re-thought for clarity and legibility, giving it a sophisticated, uncluttered look. Furthermore, the stainless steel case, with its sloping lugs and sharper bevels, measures an ideal 40.5mm by 13.4mm. In addition to the blue dial with sunburst finishing, the aesthetic is further enhanced by rhodium-plated applied indexes and hand-polished rhodium hour, minute, and seconds hands.
