Spectacular Revival of the Breitling Chronomat Collection and the Debut of the Elevated Minimalist Mermont La Parfaite

Published: 19 May 2026
From the Swiss watchmaking industry comes a refreshing revamp of the Breitling Chronomat lineup and the debut model from Mermont – the La Parfaite.

Breitling, the renowned Swiss watchmaker, recently relaunched its Chronomat lineup— a thoughtfully evolved collection that builds on its significant 2020 makeover. The new Chronomat collection is adorned with consumer-friendly features and enhanced design elements, spanning a variety of sizes and complications. With 22 variants—ranging from chronographs to time-and-date models in diverse dial colors and metals—there is something to capture every horological enthusiast’s interest. The latest Chronomat models include the Chronomat B01 42 Chronograph, the Chronomat Automatic B31 40 and the Chronomat Automatic 36; each with unique dial colors and combinations of steel, platinum, and red gold. The integration of the bracelet into the case and lugs is the biggest change in this update, shifting the case design from traditional lugs to a shrouded-lug design. The adaptation results in a visually seamless and ergonomically improved watch with a tonneau shape and a reduction in thickness across the collection. Switching focus to La Parfaite, the debut model from the newly launched Swiss brand, Mermont. This watch introduces us to the idea of elevated minimalism—a solo hour hand, masterfully hand-finished by the talented watchmaker Nicolas Delaloye. The hour hand is sculpted and curved with a heart or spade-shaped cutout; it sits high enough from the dial to be observed from multiple angles. Although it does a full rotation every 12 hours, it allows the wearer to perceive time more loosely, focusing on the essence of time rather than its exact measure. This elegant simplicity encourages the wearer to slow down and savor the precious pass of time, lending a poignant statement to modern-day horology.
